Examining Web 2.0 Tools for Students with Disabilities

After reviewing Larry Ferlazzo's sight and observing the tools considered for web 2.0, I picked tool number 2; PhotoPeach.  This is an online slide show creation where you can either upload your own images or take them off the internet.  Within the slide show, you can also create quizzes.

This could be used in an inclusive setting to make a slide show of picture steps of what they're learning.  If it is being taught on a smart board, the pictures could be interactive as well as the quizzes.  This would help students with disabilities physically see what they're learning since there will be a picture on the slideshow.  It can be used to teach information much like the "Do You Know" video.

  1. I really liked the tool that you chose! Being future special educators, we need to have good ideas under our belt going into the job so that we can use a trial & error way of figuring out what works best for what students! Pictures are always a popular feature of special education, in that they sometimes better describe what the point is without the student having to comprehend words and read full sentences.

  2. I like your tool choice. It is like an interactive PowerPoint. Very cool.

  3. The idea of using it for a visual schedule is a good one-- particularly for students who need to be kept aware of what is coming next. I could picture this 'looping' during the day so they can constantly be reminded.

Can you describe what you did when you were playing around with it? Do you have an example to post?
